Introducing Faster Payments: Move Money In and Out of the UK in Minutes

August 26, 2026

We're excited to announce Faster Payments support in UniFi. Faster Payments is the UK's real-time payment system, and it's now built directly into your UniFi account: receive British pounds with your own UK account details, and send GBP to any UK bank account in minutes.

Whether you live in the UK and want to hold US dollars, or you're abroad and moving money to family and friends in the UK, Faster Payments makes it quick and simple.

Get started

Receive GBP with your own UK account details

Getting pounds into your UniFi USD account used to mean international wires. Now you have UK account details of your own:

  1. Tap Move money in the UniFi app, then Receive money
  2. Choose the account you want to deposit into
  3. On the currency step, select British Pound (GBP)
  4. Get your personal UK deposit details: an account number and sort code that work with Faster Payments

Share those details like you would any UK account. Pounds sent to them arrive in your UniFi account as US dollars, typically within minutes. You can copy your details, share them, or download them as a PDF.

The first time you use Faster Payments, we'll ask you to complete a quick one-time identity verification to enable it. Your existing documents work, no UK ID required.

Pay Anyone in the UK

You can also send pounds from your UniFi balance to any UK bank account:

  • Add a recipient with their account number and sort code, the same details UK banks use
  • Your recipient gets GBP via Faster Payments, typically within minutes

Pay family, cover rent, or settle a bill in the UK straight from your USD balance, wherever you are in the world.

Hold Dollars, Move Pounds

Faster Payments support completes the picture for our customers in the UK:

  • Hold US dollars with no account minimums
  • Earn 3% annual rewards on your USD balance (variable rate)
  • Move GBP in and out through Faster Payments, in minutes
  • Spend anywhere Visa is accepted with the UniFi Visa debit card, now available in the UK
  • Send money internationally and share accounts with family across borders

Why Faster Payments?

Launched in 2008, Faster Payments was one of the first real-time payment systems in the world, and today it connects virtually every bank in the UK. It runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

By integrating Faster Payments directly into UniFi, we're giving you:

  • Speed: Transfers typically arrive within minutes, not days
  • Reach: Virtually every UK bank and building society is connected
  • Simplicity: An account number and sort code are all you need
  • Access: A USD account that connects to the UK's local rails, with no US bank account or US address required

Get Started with Faster Payments

Download UniFi, open your USD account, and connect it to the UK with Faster Payments.
